Pregnancy comes with a few new habits – and some new fabvourite things!
Since carrying Baby Heussler, I now have a new FAVOURITE night routine… my usual evening “shower then moisturise” routine has been swapped out with “shower then Bio Oil.”
From all the books and apps I’ve read about “what to expect”, one of the little tips I picked up was around preventing (or at least trying to prevent) stretch marks during pregnancy. My mother had twins (yes, I am blessed with a twin brother AND best friend) in the 1980’s before technology advanced to this kind of skincare. Lucky for her she didn’t get a single stretch mark from carrying us.
We’re not all so lucky (and even though I have her genes) I didn’t want to hedge my bets. When Baby Heussler turned 15 weeks (marking the start of my 2nd trimester) I started to use Bio Oil every evening after I showered.
Pictured here, I’m now onto my 2nd bottle of Bio Oil at 21 weeks to the day! And so far – no stretch marks in sight 👶🏼✨
Adding Bio Oil to my night routine has given me more precious and intimate time with my growing little girl. As an added bonus, given I’m time poor at the best of times, it’s quality time I also share with my husband who helps to rub it in so we can both enjoy and love feeling her little kicks. Heart melt!! It really is my favourite thing 💛

My Minimalist Pregnancy Tips
+ Declutter | It’s easy to start adding products, samples, gifts etc… (aka clutter) to your usual routine; more so when pregnant. Only keep on display the products you need and use each day, and put away the rest (in a cupboard, or if you don’t use it / don’t love it, bin it).
+ Supply + Demand | Keep a steady supply chain of the products you use. They always work best on your skin when from the same range (and also prevents you from wasting your hard earned $ on items you don’t need, use or love). Products I always use, and need to replenish, I purchase x2 at a time. One I am using, one spare (all while adding the products to my Shopping List on Trello).
+ Different Sizes | Buy the products in different sizes so you’re never without what you need. The larger 200ml Bio Oil I keep at home on my bed side table (ready for my night routine), with a spare in the bathroom cupboard. I also have the 25ml Bio Oil that I pack when traveling (it’s suitable for carry on luggage when flying), and small enough for my work / family trips that you don’t end up packing excess toiletries for minimal use (and ultimately have more to carry for no reason).
+ Q&A | What are your minimalist tips (pregnancy or otherwise)!!?? Did you try or use Bio Oil during your pregnancy? Love to hear your thoughts. Head over to my Instagram post and let me know!
